How can I get involved with the fashion industry as a teenager?

I am very interested in pursuing to be a fashion designer when I am older. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on what I could do now (as a 15 year old) to jump start that dream and get ahead of anyone eles.

From personal experience, I feel like the key is to rub elbows with as many people that can help you in the future as you possibly can. Start or join a fashion club at your school, and look for ways to get in contact with local designers and write to people who work in the industry to see if you can't set up a meeting or interview.

Of course, schools for fashion are probably what you are interested in.

There are SOOOO many fields in the fashion industry from editing to photography to designing to modeling. Find a few areas that interest you and get active in them. Write the fashion article for your school newspaper and throw a fashion show in the spring with outfits that you create. These things will look nice on a resume :)

It is also important to keep at it. I have talked to several people who made it in the industry and they all had the same message... don't quit or you won't get anywhere!
