Do you have to wear a hospital gown after you have surgery? or can you wear your own nightgowns?

I'll be in the hospital for about a week and I'd hate to have people see me in a hospital gown looking awful.

Due to the surgeries that you are having at least for the first few days they are going to require you to wear a hospital gown. In fact, they will probably require you to wear one almost your entire stay. I don't know how long you'll have a catheter in, but you will immediately after your surgery and I don't know how long they will leave it in....it depends on how you do. DO NOT WORRY about other people and the way you look. Worry about yourself, about getting better and taking care of yourself inside and out. Make sure that if you are in pain you are getting proper medication. Make sure that if you have a question that you ask the Dr's. Take care of yourself because there is going to be no one there but you to really love and take really good care of you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'll be calling you daily!!!!

Peace & Love :)

dont worry about it all, when you come out of theatre you will be in a hospital gown but as soon as you start recovering from treatment, they usually change you into a fresh clean pair of hospital pajamas within the next 18hours and after that they will then put you in your own nightwear. Good luck with you opperation

Depending on hospital policy but I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to wear you on gown or pajamas. Also why are you going to be there a week? Most hysterectomies are overnight stays at the most unless they have to open you up. I was out in 3 days with a hgb of 6.2 and back at work in 5 weeks.

theirs dont worry their coffy bring shorts to put on under neath if you feel uncovertabel theirs you have to wear so they can exsamine the body after surgry dont worry though their not their to jude you body in any means their their to help you and you get warm blackes in the oven things so your nice and warm

At first you will use the hospital gown because of the way they are made it is easier for the doctors and nurses to treat you. It also depends on what kind of surgery you are having.

i think you can wear a nightgown as long as it does not interfere with the area where you are getting surgery on god luck hope you get better.
